CANU Association Cameroon started in 2008 in Bafut North West Region Cameroon, as an assistance group to the aging. Its sole objective was to assist the aging with medical help, nutrition and provision of basic needs. Not long after, there was need to carter for the increasing number of underprivileged children especially orphans and street children. The group then decided not to limit its assistance only to the aging but also to include the vulnerable children-those who needed assistance. Since then, the group has been working with a number of widows and children (mostly orphans and marginalized children) including those that have physical disabilities. In the light of its activities, this group of benevolent young men and women attracted the attention of others who shared the goals and mission of the group. It was at this juncture that it was decided that an association be created to take “care of the aging, needy and the underprivileged” persons through out the national territory. CANU was then created on the 27th April 2013 and it operates with Authorization No :1220/2013/RDA/C19/SAAJP of 17th December 2013
To sensitize the population on behaviors that are harmful to the environmentTo offer education/training to young people / orphans who are abandoned. To carry out social/developmental projects in communities; health, water, electrification lodging, etc.To reinsert orphans, street children and the marginalized into the society through internships, job offers, etc.To discourage the marginalization of orphans and street children. To promote literacy in Cameroon especially among the orphans, street children and children in enclaved areas.
CANU aims at building a sustainable future for the Cameroonian population and the world at large This involves sensitization on ways of eradicating common diseases like Malaria, typhoid, cholera; ending poverty; living peacefully with neighbours; protect and preserve the environment and helping the abandoned to grow socially, morally and otherwise etc.
The association offers training on modern farming methods to young people who have dropped out of school. It is also concerned with environmental issues and sensitizes the population on behaviors that endanger our environment. CANU through its actions seeks a positive change for all humanity in the world, thus creating hope and a brighter future.
Our seminars, conferences and workshops are geared towards the transformation of the people from the 'usual way of doing things' which in most cases does help the people and the environment but ruin them. We believe that change can be effectively achieved when people change the way they think, act and believe.
By these, we aim to build a new world where people can live happily and leave it with a brighter future for the generations to come
Our beneficiaries include orphans, street children, ageing and rural communities that lack basic necessities. That is communities in need. We work with them and for them to raise their living standards, end poverty and inequality, and bring development as much as we can do. We train the people themselves to become ambassadors of change in their communities and future advocates of change.
A world in which every child/aged person feels safe and fulfilled.
