Our Activities

Calling Government to endorse the SDGS 15/01/15
1. Education
CANU Educate communities on sustainable development goals and their implementation through seminars, conferences and actions on the ground.

2. Scholarship Schemes include:
 Providing didactic materials (textbooks, exercise books, pens, etc.), paying tuition fees of students who are in need and also providing vocational skills to children who have dropped out of school for other reasons than listed above.
 Sensitize the people on some social ills and poor aspects of the customs and beliefs.

 * Construction of School or classroom wherever there is a need and whenever the financial means are available

You can provide support by providing a computer to a community in CAMEROON

3. Care, Outreach and assistance
a) Provision of medical assistance and nutrition. From the beginning we used to take them to nearby health centers or hospitals (depending on the area). As of December 2016, CANU wishes to run Health Centers in areas where these are lacking and the need is high. This is aimed at providing access to medical assistance especially to the underprivileged population.
b) Provision of basic needs (clothing, comfort, etc.). Whenever there is a possibility, we do everything possible to provide some basic necessities to the underprivileged population especially the aged, children and youths in need.
c) Formation of sharing Groups

d) Training of youths mostly female who have dropped from school on managerial capabilities to start and run small projects to help themselves.
e) Assistance (material or financial) to kick start small scale businesses for those we have trained.

Health Care
Health care is a basic human right. Thus health facilities must be made accessible to everyone at all times and at a moderate cost, affordable to everyone. We are working to create health centers in the most abandoned areas of the country where we will endeavor to:
a) Educate our beneficiaries and communities on the need for better health practices through conferences, seminars and workshops
b) Provision of portable water for communities to reduce the risk of contamination which is one of the major causes of ill health in rural communities in Cameroon, as many people drink but water from open streams and some from exposed or badly managed wells.
c) Educate people on prevention of common diseases and birth control methods

Training 2021

An initiative by the CANU Association Cameroon and partners

BACKGROUND OF ORGANISATION.

CANU Association Cameroon was created to fill the gap left in the lives of women both old and young and the underprivileged in society. Created in 2008 by Bafut, the association was registered in 2013 and works to bring back the lost dignity of the underprivileged and suffering population, especially the woman and her children. We offer scholarships/education programs, run outreach programs, train on wealth creation and management, and provide seed grants. We also run health projects.
We aim for a better life for all and run two main offices in Douala and Bafut. We are registered with authorization No 1220/2013/RDA/C19/SAAJP of 17th of December 2013
CANU has so far donated didactic materials to underprivileged children in Bafut, organized health campaigns with video in SW, organized capacity building seminars with youths and is now running an evening school for the less privileged in Douala. We also take care of thirty widows/aged in Bafut. We have more than sixty beneficiaries that we take care of. We have more than fifty youths in Douala under our sponsorship program who have no means to attend classes and are not fit to attend the evening school.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The crisis in Cameroon English speaking Regions, otherwise known as "Southern Cameroons," has been going on for more than three years with ruthless and targeted killings. This has left the people with no choice but to flee from their homes to different parts of the country with at least one hundred thousand people as internally displaced persons (IDPs), with Douala alone having more than thirty thousand. It is in this light that many young girls and women aged between the ages of seventeen and twenty (17-29) have found themselves in Douala in the Littoral Region of Cameroon with no family members, no job and nowhere to stay. They have no food to eat and no trade to exercise. Many of these young girls have now resorted to prostitution as a means of living and the only way to have food on their table. It is for this reason that the association intends to offer training to these young girls/women to enable them to live a befitting life and take care of their children as some are with their children.

Secondly beneficiaries will their family members and peers with whom they will share the knowledge got from the training. Others will become trainers when peace finally reigns in the two affected regions.
